My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little lady, estimated to be about 8 years old and weighing just 13 pounds, has had a journey most dogs couldn’t imagine. She was found as a stray in rough shape. Her skin was inflamed, most of her fur missing, and covered in a severe flea infestation that had left her raw and incredibly itchy. On top of that, she was terrified of everything, often freezing or shaking when approached. It was heartbreaking, but also the start of an amazing transformation.

Over the weeks at our rescue, Persephone has blossomed. With gentle care, patience, and lots of love from our staff and volunteers, she’s come out of her shell. Her skin has improved dramatically, her fur has grown back beautifully, and her personality now shines just as brightly. When she sees a familiar face, her tail wags like a little metronome, she squeals with joy, and runs up to deliver smooches with her adorably long tongue. Watching her gain confidence and happiness has been nothing short of magical!

Persephone’s unique look is just as charming as her personality. She has a long body that hints at dachshund, a big overbite that makes you think Chihuahua, and a sweet little pug-like face that is impossible not to love. No matter the mix, she’s utterly perfect and impossible to resist.

This little lady thrives on gentle, steady care. She does well with other dogs, is highly treat-motivated, and loves attention in the right, calm environment. Her ideal home would be with someone who understands she needs time to feel safe, isn’t gone long hours, and can continue helping her thrive into her golden years. Senior dog experience is a plus, but patience, love, and treats will get you far with Persephone.

She doesn’t ask for much - just quiet stability, cuddles, and the chance to be loved the way she deserves. Persephone is one of those rare dogs who gives her whole heart to the people she trusts. She’s already stolen the hearts of everyone at our rescue, and we know she’s ready to steal yours too. Interested in giving this sweet little lady her happily-ever-after? Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
