Red Pine 🌲❤️
This cream-colored cutie is always underfoot 👣—not because he’s in the way, but because he simply must know what you’re doing at all times 👀✨. Red Pine is a super social little guy who plays well with cats of all ages 🐱 and even dogs 🐶! He sprinkles in the cutest little chirp-meows while he plays 🎶, like he’s giving live commentary on his own adventures.

He can be a bit shy with kids at first 👶😳, but once he warms up, he becomes a loyal little sidekick. And that’s exactly what he is—a sidekick, not a lap cat. He’s happiest right beside you, tagging along like your fluffy assistant 😼➡️❤️.

Red Pine loves treats and pets 🍗💖, but being carried around? Absolutely not. He will politely decline! 😼✋ Still, he brings tons of playful energy ⚡ and thrives in a home with another playful pet or a human who has lots of time and attention to give.

Their adoption process

1.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

We do allow walk ins to meet animals they may want to adopt. We do not allow people to walk through the kennels we bring the animal to you.

2.
Submit Application

Not all animals need an application but some may need one due to having special needs or not being spayed or neutered yet.

3.
Take the Pet Home

You can usually take a pet home same day on foster or adoption. Foster is for a week for compatibility. Not all animals qualify for foster

Additional adoption info

Once an animal is chosen, you will pay the adoption fee via cash or card. The card does charge a fee to use. If an animal is not spayed or neutered yet we will schedule it with one of our vets or you may schedule it at your own vet and receive a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $60 for cats. All animals are microchipped except barn cats.

The Highland Humane Society is located 2 1/2 miles east of Hillsboro, OH on St. Rt. 124. We are a non-profit shelter which provides a safe haven for dogs and cats while they transition from their past lives to their future, forever homes. We are a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization first organized in 1969 and guided by a dedicated board.
