I’m a wise ol` yellow lab with a heart full of stories, a back touched by the years, and a spirit that still perks up at the sound of a friendly knock on the door. Life’s been a bit unsettled lately, so I can be anxious at first. But speak kindly, offer a gentle hand, and you’ll find I’m quick to soften. I walk just fine—with a little enthusiastic pulling here and there—and I know my sit and down. As for treats, I’ll only accept Benny’s Bullys. At my age, I’ve earned the right to be particular. When folks come to say hello, I’ll give one dignified bark, then shuffle over with a wiggle to greet them properly. Dogs get me awfully excited—sometimes too excited—so I’ll need patient, understanding canine friends. I came to the shelter through no fault of my own, and now I’m hoping for a quiet home with a yard where an old boy like me can stretch, sniff the breeze, and enjoy the simple things again. The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City. This is only a portion of the work done by our organization. In 2016 almost 12,000 animal came through the doors of our shelter and spay/neuter clinic. We can’t help them without your support.
