Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Scrappy is a high-energy, big-eared cuddle bug who has been such a quick learner in his foster home. He already knows sit, down, and touch, and continues to impress with his eagerness to train.
Scrappy is housetrained and does well in the crate—he may whine or bark for the first 5–10 minutes, but then settles in. He absolutely loves being around his people and will happily curl up right beside you on the couch or bed. His favorite activity is playing ball, and he’ll eagerly bring it to you for another toss, even indoors. He has plenty of energy and even enjoys going on runs with his foster parents!
At the dog park, Scrappy is more focused on his beloved ball than other dogs, but he gets along great with our 3-year-old, 30-pound dog and 10-year-old cat. He and our dog love playing together and will sometimes even cuddle on the sofa.
Scrappy can get a bit overstimulated at times and may try to grab a pillow or blanket, but he redirects easily to an appropriate chew/bone. He is a bit of a sneaky counter surfer, so food should be kept out of reach. His expressive ears (which go from fully perked to completely horizontal!) and his adorable Basenji-like “yodel” make him even more charming.
Scrappy rides wonderfully in the car—he recently handled a 14-hour road trip with no issues. He does pull on walks, so a harness is recommended. In the apartment, he has occasionally shown some protective behaviors and may growl at unfamiliar visitors if not introduced properly. His foster family is actively working on this, and he’s making progress.
Overall, Scrappy will make a fantastic companion for an active person or family who can give him plenty of exercise, structure, and affection. He’s equal parts adventure buddy and cuddly shadow—and he will absolutely adore his people.
