Sophie has the build of a Basset Hound with the looks of a Pittie, and a heart that desperately wants to feel safe.

She spent the first year of her life in an abusive environment, and because of that, the world still feels like a scary place to her. Sophie is especially fearful of men and children and yes, a 13-year-old child was involved in the abuse she endured. Those experiences left deep emotional scars, but they do not define who she is.

Once Sophie trusts you, she is incredibly loving. She’s house-trained, enjoys playing with other dogs, and doesn’t seem to mind cats. She absolutely loves to snuggle and thrives on quiet affection.

Sophie would do best in a calm, patient home with someone willing to show her that kindness is real and consistency is safe. Having a confident canine companion would be a huge bonus, helping her learn that the world doesn’t have to be frightening.

Sophie isn’t broken — she’s healing. She just needs the right person to walk that journey with her.
