Tommy is a gorgeous and shy, four-year-old, 8.9-pound, male, golden-eyed, orange and white tabby cat looking for a loving guardian.
Tommy was working as an indoor/outdoor cat at a body shop until recently. The landlord said no more cats on the premises, so Tommy came to Friends of Petraits Rescue to find placement.
Tommy is well-behaved in the home, uses his litter box perfectly but the only time I can pet him is when he is eating. So, we’ve bonded over food and after a month, I can pick him up. He’s very talkative and engaging.
He’s a healthy dude with an ear tip acknowledging that he was TNR’d (trapped, neutered and relased). But, unfortunately he can’t be returned to his familiar surroundings at this point, especially with FeLV, he can live as an only cat, with a dog, or with another FeLV-positive cat.
Tommy is vaccinated for rabies and distemper, microchipped and virus-tested negative for FIV, and positive for FeLV.
FeLV is a type of virus that can spread via saliva, feces, urine and milk. So some cats are born with the virus, or can spread through a cat colony.
So, Tommy is looking for special new situation where he can be cared for – either a warehouse, or any indoor setting as the only cat. He’s absolutely fine in the home, but not a lap cat … at least for me! But, maybe for the right person he will be!
