My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“Buddy is pure joy. He wakes up happy, goes to sleep happy, and wants to be included in everything in between.” Buddy is a 2 Year Old/ 26 lb Beagle/Dachshund Mix. Buddy is playful, energetic, and incredibly sweet. He LOVES his toys, especially tug-of-war and fetch, and gets so excited for walks, meals, and meeting other dogs.  “His favorite thing is saying hi to everyone. People, dogs, the world, Buddy wants to be friends with it all.”

Buddy is fully house trained and has really settled into his routine. Moving his crate into the bedroom made a huge difference for him, and he now sleeps comfortably and relaxes well when his people are nearby. “He’s affectionate, loyal, and always checking in with us. If you sit on the couch, Buddy will absolutely join you.” Like many young, curious pups, Buddy is still working on his manners. He can pull on leash and gets excited by scooters, runners, and skateboards but he’s already training with @magneticdogtraining and making great progress. His enthusiasm comes from excitement, not fear, and he’s learning how to channel it calmly! “Buddy feels everything BIG: his love, his excitement, his joy. That’s part of what makes him so special.” His ideal home is one that enjoys daily walks, playtime, and continuing his training, ideally in a quieter area with space to explore. Adoption application

Go meet their pets

The first step of the adoption process is to complete an adoption application in full at www.rescuecity.nyc. All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the city. We do not have a physical location where we keep dogs.

More about this rescue

Rescue City is a no-kill, non-profit1 pet rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption organization. Our team of dedicated volunteers is based in Brooklyn, NY and serves the NYC metro and surrounding areas.

Our organization’s motto is: There’s a person for every dog, and there’s a dog for every person…it’s just a matter of time. This applies whether you are looking to adopt a pet, or would like to make a positive impact on the lives of animals. At Rescue City we believe it is our moral responsibility to defend the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.
We take on helpless stray and surrendered animals, as well as those at the top of the euthanasia list at local and international shelters. We place our rescues in nurturing foster homes while they rebuild their lives through physical and mental rehabilitation. Following a thorough – but hassle free – adoption process, our Rescues are placed in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. Every rescue is fully vetted and altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated upon adoption. Our commitment to our rescues does not stop once the adoption paperwork is signed. We stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, and we educate our Fosters, Adopters, and community on what it means to be a good pet owner.
