Phoenix is a bright, affectionate pup who’s wonderful with kids and cats. She’s happiest when playing fetch and loves showing off her skills—sit, stay, shake, and even high five! Crate trained and great on a leash, Phoenix is both well-mannered and playful. Her favorite snack is juicy watermelon, which she enjoys with pure delight. Phoenix is ready to bring joy, fun, and companionship to her forever family.

Their adoption process

1.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Visit the Kapolei or Mililani PetSmart to spend time with our adoptable cats or attend a dog adoption event for a meet and greet.

2.
Submit Application

Submit your application (this application is also your adoption contract).

3.
Interview

An adoption coordinator will call and complete a telephonic interview.

4.
Approve Application

The adoption coordinator may be able to approve the application during the interview, or the review team may need to consult.

5.
Meet the Pet

Once approved, a meet and greet is scheduled at the adoption center.

6.
Pay Fee

Once the pet is selected, adoption fee is then paid.

7.
Take the Pet Home

Take your new family member to their fur-ever home!

Additional adoption info

Interviews will be conducted within 48 hours of submission, though we strive to do them as soon as possible. In several cases, the review team will need to verify the application before a final determination can be made.

We are located within the Kapolei and Mililani PetSmart adoption centers. We have staff on site Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm, and Monday-Friday by appointment only.

Dog adoption events are ran based on availability, and future events can be found on our Facebook or Instagram, Poi Dogs and Popoki.

Our vision is to create a compassionate community where animals are treated with respect and given the care they deserve.

Our History:
Poi Dogs & Popoki has been serving the community for almost 15 years. We are a small, volunteer-run organization and have grown to become one of the most respected foster based animal rescues on Oahu. Our dedication to the rescue and care of animals is what drives us every day. We have no paid staff and rely on the love and support of volunteers. And the generous donations of animal lovers enables us to rescue and care for animals in need.
