Maple's sweet, endearing face and her very thin body are hiding a secret. It took us a minute to figure it out, but now that we know it, we will never forget it. Beneath this boxer mix of a dog, deep within Maple, there appears to be a velociraptor. She only makes this sound when people leave her, when she really, really wants them to come back and be with her. At first, we thought, well, it's just us, maybe we are just imagining it. But then she boarded at the vet for a procedure. And one by one, we heard the tales of Maple the velociraptor. It wasn't just our imagination. This noise she makes is just the opposite of the girl who wants to sit in your lap, even though she is a bit big for that. The girl who wants to press her head next to yours, almost trying to attach herself to you. She is dainty, but her noise is not. Her sound breaks your heart but makes you chuckle at the same time. You wonder how THAT sound can come out of THAT girl. It just makes us love her even more. In any case, we are thrilled to report that Maple is finally putting on weight. She still has miles to go but she is working on filling out. She has already had a dental so her teeth are fixed and she is much happier. Maple is intuitive and knows just when you need a hug or some time to cuddle with her. As you sit with her, you can't help but wonder what she is dreaming about - most likely her forever family. Her best bud, Mavis, has gone home, so now Maple waits for her turn. Please come meet our marvelous Maple - she is our unique treasure that we can't wait to show you. She is seven-years-old and is just looking for her forever family. Maple has bounced around homes in her lifetime, so a final home to call her own is most likely what she is dreaming about every time she is giving us a hug. Come meet Maple and her friends at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton VA. Open daily between 9AM and noon. Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!
PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.
