My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Minnow!
Minnow is a bold and loving 1-year-old bundle of joy who knows exactly how to get your attention! This confident sweetheart isn’t shy about asking for pets—he’ll stroll right up to you, gently remind you he’s there, and even climb up close to your face to show just how much he loves you.

Minnow thrives on affection and happily gives it back tenfold with head nudges, loud purrs, and endless snuggles. If you’re looking for a fearless, people-loving companion who will keep you smiling and feeling adored, Minnow could be your perfect match!

Minnow has cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), a neurological condition that affects his balance and coordination. The great news? It’s not painful and not contagious, and Minnow can use the litter box, eat, play, and enjoy life just like other cats. He may need a safer setup at home since he isn’t able to safely jump onto high surfaces like counters or tall cat trees. Extra care should be taken to help keep him away from potential hazards and ensure he feels safe around other pets and young children.

Minnow doesn’t let CH slow him down — he’s ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and nonstop purrs.

Stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email bloomingdale@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 90, and the staff will be happy to help you.

All of our cats and kittens go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their core vaccines, as well as flea and tick preventatives. Each adoption also includes a 3.5-pound bag of Iams cat food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

More about this shelter

A one-of-a-kind animal welfare organization, Anderson Humane focuses on creating and supporting mutually beneficial relationships between people and animals. Current programming such as our Adoption Program, Military Veterans’ Program, and Healing Paws Pet Therapy Program create positive, impactful connections between people and animals, improving the lives of both. Anderson Humane is a resource for pet owners, providing information and services to provide better care for their pets. Services such as our Low-Cost Vaccination, Dental, and Spay/Neuter Clinics offer affordable veterinary care options, preventing owners from having to give up their pets simply because they can’t afford care. On the horizon are additional programs to keep pets in homes, such as a pet food pantry, affordable pet training options, and temporary housing for pets when families are in crisis.
