My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tyler, a charming young guy with the cutest tippy-taps in town!

This friendly guy is all about the simple joys in life: long sniff-filled walks, fresh air adventures and plenty of affection from his favorite people. Tyler walks nicely on a leash and takes his job as a professional sniffer very seriously.

When he gets excited and picks up the pace, or when he’s running free at the park, his short little legs do the cutest bunny hops and tippy-taps you’ve ever seen - it’s impossible not to smile!

Tyler is sweet, loving and ready to be your cuddle buddy. If he sounds like your kind of guy, come say hi - he can't wait to meet you!

Go meet their pets

Adoptions are completed on a first come, first served basis. Please note there may be a wait to meet with a pet, dependent on advisor availability.

Please allow plenty of time to meet your perfect pet. Once you have selected a pet, the adoption process will take at least 30 minutes. We do not begin the adoption process after 5:30 pm.

Animal Humane New Mexico performs a background check on all adopters & does not adopt to anyone who has committed a violent crime. We reserve the right to refuse an adoption for any reason.

Please note, visitors must wear their mask indoors at all Animal Humane locations.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless and at-risk dogs & cats each year. We never euthanize based on age or length of stay and since 2010, have re-homed 100% of healthy pets in our care. We support every companion animal at Animal Humane with outstanding veterinary, social and emotional care, and love.

As a private nonprofit shelter, we receive no city, state or federal funding; each dollar judiciously spent is earned or raised. We are nationally recognized as a top U.S. charity based on financial accountability, transparency, and administrative-to-program cost ratios. Animal Humane is among only 9 percent of nationwide charities to have received five consecutive annual four-star evaluations, the highest possible, from Charity Navigator, including a top score of 100 for accountability and transparency.
