Dakota is a stunning 45-lb Labrador mix whose story is one of courage, resilience, and transformation. Her life didn’t start the way any dog deserves — she lived her early months confined to a crate with little to no socialization, leaving her fearful of people, new environments, and especially men.
But everything changed when she joined her loving foster family. With gentle guidance, patience, and routine exposure to the world, Dakota is slowly discovering that life can be wonderful. Her foster mom has been incredible, taking her to live music events, flea markets, and outings to help her build confidence at her own pace. Dakota now walks through the world with curiosity — still shy at first, but willing to trust when given kindness and time.
Dakota lives peacefully with both dogs and a cat, and she absolutely thrives with her canine companions. She is house trained, crate trained, and enjoys the comfort and structure of a stable home.
Because of her sensitive background, Dakota would do best with a family who understands that healing happens gradually — ideally a home with older children or adults who can offer patience, routine, and encouragement. In the right environment, she will continue blossoming into the confident, loving dog she’s meant to be.

If you do not own your own home - Paws Fur Recovery will need to contact your landlord or HOA to verify that you are allowed to have pets. We will also need to perform an in-person house check to verify that your home is suitable for pets (enough space, fenced in yard, etc). We will need to meet all residents of your home, including any adults, children, pets both inside & out - to make sure your home is suitable for the dog you are seeking to adopt. This is not an exhaustive list of requirements. Every dog's situation is different and every adoption will be handled on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of a Paws Fur Recovery representative.
