My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peaches is a 5-yr old sweet, sassy, and independent calico girl. She was returned to Pet Haven through no fault of her own, and is now looking for her new forever home!

Peaches can be a bit reserved at first, and will take a little time to warm up to you. She will let you know when she wants to be petted and hang out on your lap; when she needs a change of scenery, she will let out a gentle low grow and walk away.

New sounds or noises are scary to this pretty girl, so she may hide for a bit. But when she feels comfortable, Peaches likes to check out her surroundings. She enjoys looking out the window and might enjoy a high spot to survey the neighborhood in her forever home. The window ledge in her foster home is a favorite spot for her.

She is not much of a cat to sleep in bed with you, but will certainly let you know when it is time to get up and serve her the all-important morning meal!

Peaches has a low energy level; she’s fairly chill, with the occasional zoomies between rooms. Like many cats, she can be a night owl–she loves to play with her toys after dark, but she isn’t loud enough to wake anyone up.

She will also play a bit during the day, followed by curling up on your lap or next to you on the couch to get her all-important power naps.

Peaches is currently living in a quiet apartment complex with one adult female. She has been curious about the door, but hasn't tried escaping yet; however, her forever family will need to watch her closely to ensure she doesn't door dash.

Peaches would be a great fit for a single person who works from home or is around a lot, or a family (children over 12, please) who will give her space and patience to allow her to become the sweetest little peach she can be.

Peaches needs to be the only pet due to previously being bullied in her former home. This beautiful ,sweet girl would make a lovely addition to a calm household with a patient person or family who can give her lots of love and plenty of space to help her bloom. Could that be you?

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
