My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rooster is a large mixed-breed dog with a personality as bold as his name and a brain to match. Exceptionally smart, he thrives on mental challenges and is always eager to figure things out. Puzzle toys aren’t just fun for him — they’re his specialty. Give Rooster a new brain teaser, and he’ll study it with focus and determination until he’s proudly claimed his reward.

Handsome and strong with expressive, intelligent eyes, he carries himself with confidence and charm. People notice him everywhere he goes, drawn in by both his good looks and his bright, curious nature.

Rooster absolutely loves learning new tricks. From the basics to impressive show-stoppers, he picks up commands quickly and seems genuinely proud of mastering something new — especially when treats are involved. In fact, treats are the ultimate motivation in his world. A tasty reward turns any training session into his favorite part of the day.

Playful, loyal, and endlessly clever, Rooster is the perfect combination of brains, beauty, and boundless enthusiasm.

More about this shelter

Our shelter was built in 2007 for the City of Hutchinson. Our goal is to help cut down on the pet-overpopulation of Reno County and to place animals in furever homes!
