My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ:

Dorito is NOT in Centre. Please apply online. We will call the approved application to set something up.

Dorito is a tiny orange kitten with a huge heart. She came to us in rough shape, but after time in a loving foster home, she's now doing well, very happy, and ready for her forever family. She happily cuddles up for naps. Dorito also enjoys the company of calm, friendly dogs who know how to be respectful with cats!

Dorito MUST be kept indoors only-this is important for her safety and her health. She has feline calicivirus, a common upper-respiratory virus in cats. Many cats live long, full lives with it, but it can be contagious to cats who don't already have it. Because of this, she needs to be the only cat in the home unless the resident cat also has calicivirus. Dogs and humans are not at risk.

If you're looking for a loving, gentle kitten who will snuggle right into your heart, Dorito is ready to meet you. She's a brave little survivor with a big purr and an even bigger capacity for affection-and she can't wait to find the safe, cozy indoor home she deserves.

Dorito is NOT yet spayed - the adopter will need to be local to make it back for her scheduled surgery date.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
