Nevina came to the shelter after her elderly owner could no longer care for her due to her own health. She had been living alone in the home for some time, only receiving periodic visits from relatives for food and basic care, so the transition into the shelter has been overwhelming for her.
Despite how frightened she is, Nevina has shown small but meaningful moments of bravery. She lets handlers gently pick her up with a blanket, and once outside the kennel, she begins to relax enough to sniff, explore a bit, and even show the first hints of tail movement. She is a very sensitive, shutdown little dog who seems to want connection but is simply too scared to trust yet. With patience, calm handling, and a quiet environment, she has every chance to blossom into a devoted companion.
Per volunteer 12/7: Nevina is petrified at the shelter. She keeps her little body pressed against the cold metal at the back of her kennel. I picked her up with a blanket and she peed. She opened up a bit outside, you could start to see her tail. She cowered if you reached over her. She did sniff me when I got on the ground, but she was just too scared right now to trust me. You can see she's had a rough go of life. I'd love to see her blossom in a calmer environment.

was called to help secure Nevina to go to Sx. she was pinned behind her large blanket in the back corner of her side bank. i removed the blanket to see her face. with a trembling tight body and wide eyes i was able to easily secure a red leash around her. i used that same blanket to pick her up without an issue. she urinated on me when i picked her up and began trembling, otherwise did not give me any issues.
