My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joey (approximately 49 pounds) was transferred to the NHSPCA from an overcrowded shelter in Texas. This boy is pure happiness! His zest for life will make you laugh & most definitely keep a smile on your face. He is the epitome of a gangly teenager trying to fully control his lanky limbs while bunny hopping around to play with anyone and everyone...seriously, this boy loves EVERYONE! He also thinks that everyone loves him, which is usually correct but he might be a little too much for dogs that don't enjoy play time. But if you have a pup looking for a super fun, super sweet fur friend, you need to meet Joey! Our handsome boy doesn't want his human friends to feel left out either - he is always excited for human attention & snuggles, especially after he has played his little heart out. We suspect that Joey will weigh 72-89 pounds when full grown, but this is not an exact science, so please take it with a grain of salt.

If you'd like to meet Joey and all his friends at the New Hampshire SPCA, please visit our Adoption Center during our open hours: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day except Wednesdays (closed). Plus, this October, we will be open until 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays! Have questions? Call (603) 772-2921 ext. 110 or email info@nhspca.org today.

More about this shelter

Placement and Acceptance of Animals:

Our Adoption Center receives almost 4,000 unwanted, neglected or abused animals in our region each year. We provide each one with a warm bed, loving care and take every step possible to place them in the best possible new home.

Behavior Training for Pets:

All training classes at the NHSPCA are designed to help you develop the skills needed to make living with your dog pleasurable and much easier. The NHSPCA uses a method of training known as Positive Reinforcement. Whether you want to start your new puppy out on the right paw or work on improving your adult dog's behavior we have the perfect class for you and your four legged friend.

Humane Education & Community Programs :

The Humane Education program of the New Hampshire SPCA encourages children and adults to develop and express attitudes of compassion, kindness and respect for all living things. Our ever-growing list of programs and workshops are a fun and interactive way to explore the interdependence between humans and animals while learning how to create a more humane community.

Cruelty Investigations & Advocacy:

Since 1872 animal cruelty investigation has been one of the cornerstones of the NHSPCA. Today our services encompass an even wider range of activities. In addition to investigating hundreds of reports of suspected animal neglect or abuse every year, our agent works with other humane organizations to develop and strengthen legislation that protects animals throughout the State of New Hampshire.

Developing a Solid Foundation for Animal Care:

Our donors are some of the most caring and dedicated individuals you will ever meet. You can become involved in financially supporting the NHSPCA in a number of ways: make a donation, participate in a fundraising events or include the NHSPCA in your will. These are just some of the ways you can support our efforts. Each gift, large or small, makes a difference in the life of an animal and the community we live in.

Volunteers Make All the Difference:

Whether you are interested in direct animal care, special events, customer service or administrative work we can use your help. The NHSPCA Volunteer Program will give you the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of all animals.
