Meet Mystique, a gentle calico beauty with a soft spirit and an even softer voice. This shy girl has come a long way from her days as a stray, and now she is learning what it means to feel safe, warm, and loved.

Mystique spends most of her time relaxing in her foster’s bedroom—her cozy sanctuary—but with a little encouragement, she will quietly pad her way out to explore the world beyond. She’s a whisper-quiet companion, known for her adorable silent meows and peaceful presence.

Her house manners are impeccable: she never scratches furniture, never jumps on counters, and is truly one of the most polite cats you will ever meet. Mystique enjoys gentle pets and calm company, but fast movements or attempts to pick her up can still make her nervous. She won’t hide—she simply prefers to sit, observe, and take comfort in the quiet safety she never had before.

With patience, kindness, and a serene home, Mystique will continue to blossom. She is ready for a forever family who appreciates her sweet, tender nature and is happy to let her be her quietly magical self.

After a telephone conversation and character reference checks you may meet the animal at its foster home or an agreed upon location.

3.
Meet the Pet

For cats, you may be pre-approved to adopt at the first meeting. For dogs, we require a first meeting before an adoption can be finalized.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Adoption Agreements are sent out by email for electronic signature. It is very convenient!

5.
Pay Fee

Fee payments can be made by e-transfer, cash, cheque, debit or credit.

6.
Take the Pet Home

There is a two-week trial adoption period in which a full refund of the adoption fee is offered if it is not a good match.

More about this shelter

Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue is a primarily foster-based, non-profit organization that has served the south east of Manitoba since 2013. Volunteers are the lifeline of the organization, which is committed to finding forever homes for abandoned, homeless, and surrendered companion animals. The rescue has recently opened its doors to a new adoption centre at 39 Keating Road in Steinbach, MB. There are adoptable cats and dogs at the shelter, as well as a gift shop!
