My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say Hello to Nessa!

Nessa is a 4 year old, 35 pound Terrier Mix looking for a cozy home and loving family to spend her days running, playing, and snuggling with! Nessa is a sweet but sensitive lady, who prefers to take her time adjusting to new people and places before showing off her goofy loving personality. Once she warms up Nessa transforms into a bouncing, playful pup, content so long as she has a trusted human nearby to give her all the pets her heart desires.

Nessa would likely do best as the only pup in her forever home, as she has been quite fearful of the pup friends we have introduced her to here. We do not know how Nessa does with cats.

Due to her sensitive nature Nessa would likely do best in a home with kiddos that are 13+ and able to respect her boundaries and give her time and space when she needs it.

Looking to adopt a sweet but sensitive pup and give her the calm, loving home she needs? Stop by the Humane Society of Summit County today and meet Nessa, or call (330) 487-0333 ext. 803 for more info!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
