Boogie and his mom Disco were living in a stray cat colony in Houston, and extremely skittish and wary of humans. When he was a couple months old, Boogie developed a severe upper respiratory infection which can be deadly in kittens without treatment.
Because he was so skittish around people, Boogie was trapped as part of a Trap/Neuter/Return effort. He had such a severe cough and other symptoms that no one could bear to put him back out on the streets. And so began his "socialization adventure"... While being nursed back to health with daily medication and monitoring, Boogie slowly but surely started to warm up to human companionship. Every day he started to feel better, we saw a little more of his personality shine through: he went from a skinny and scraggly street cat to a VERY chunky, happy, and playful kitten. Even though he is older than most of his foster siblings, Boogie loves to play with the tiny kittens.
Boogie has a purr like a lawnmower and will beeline for your lap, begging for snuggles and pets. Sometimes he gets so excited for pets and love that he gives love nips - it can take you by surprise, but it's his way of showing affection when he's really happy!
Are you looking to make a real difference in a kitty's life? Do you have the patient and loving home that can help a cat with a tough start get the happy ending they deserve? Boogie may be your perfect companion. I can personally say that watching him come around is worth every moment spent patiently bonding with him.
Boogie is just over a year old, neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped. He does a great job of keeping his litterbox tidy... All he needs now is his forever home.
An ideal home for Boogie is an experienced cat owner who understands and can sympathize with a cat who has a tough past. While Boogie is not aggressive at all, he is very shy and needs someone who is ready and willing to continue trying to help him out of his shell. A quiet home with cats would be ideal, but Boogie would also be happy as an only cat if his human companions are home enough to give him all the love.
Boogie is currently in Houston, Texas but can be transported to the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest, or locations along these routes.
ABOUT OUR ADOPTION FEES:
When you adopt from ROSES Rescues, you're doing more than giving your new family member a home. Each adoption fee pays for a cat on the streets of Houston to get fixed, helping end the cycle of overpopulation in a rough environment. We thank you so much for your contribution to our efforts! To learn more about our TNR (Trap / Neuter / Return) efforts, please follows us on Instagram @roses_rescues_htx.
(All adoption fees also include transportation costs, spay/neuter of the animal, vaccinations, and microchipping.)
