My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweet 6-year-old, 15-pound survivor is finally ready for her forever home! After spending her early years as a street dog in Puerto Rico and raising multiple litters, she’s getting her first real chance to simply be someone’s cherished companion.

Despite her rough past and a few physical challenges — she’s missing one eye and has some old injuries to her back legs — she gets around wonderfully. She walks well on a leash, is fully potty trained, and is picking up basic commands quickly (especially when snacks are involved!).

You’d never guess she once lived on the streets. She’s taken to indoor life like a natural! Her ideal day includes cozy naps, gentle strolls, and plenty of snuggles. She’s an excellent house companion and loves curling up beside her person for pets and affection. She’s even starting to enjoy toys!

Once she feels comfortable, she becomes the sweetest cuddle bug. She does well with both cats and dogs after a proper introduction, and she’s now spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative.

She’s looking for:

  • An experienced dog owner who understands she’ll need a little time to adjust

  • A calm, loving home where she can feel safe

  • A home with teenage children or older

This resilient girl has overcome so much and has endless love to give. Could you be her perfect match?

Additional adoption info

All of our dogs and cats come spayed/neutered and vaccinated! Some of the pups will only have their first round of shots and may need rabies if they are under 3 months old. But other than that, these babies come ready to go! Our adoption fees vary, please inquire about each dog's individual fees. We do have cats and kittens available from time to time, so please inquire if you are looking for a feline pal! With their vetting, flights and care, we only ask for the adoption donation to help offset costs and make sure our adopters are serious. We love our rescues like we love our family. They mean the world to us and we just want to see them in good loving homes! And please check back as we are always adding new rescues to this page.

More about this rescue

We approach each every situation with an open mind. We work to build respect and trust with the partners, communities and countries we work in. With their acceptance, we build a plan together to meet the most pressing issues. We listen, learn and solve the needs together. We look for solutions that are integrated, scale-able, and sustainable. At Compassion Kind, we work with governments, institutions, local leaders, civil society organizations, foundations and businesses around the world to ensure that the most vulnerable beings are heard, and that they get the assistance they need to sustain from within the communities. Our teams and partners advocate for capacity building training and grass roots techniques so we make a lasting impact, create measurable change and operate as efficiently as possible.
