My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sammi is fostered in Ottumwa, IA.

Sammi is a sweet, special girl.  She was brought into rescue when her former owner suffered a medical condition that required him to move in with family and receive 24 hour care himself.  Sammi had been in that home since she was a puppy.  Sammi is a blue merle female Australian Shepherd.  She is an 8 year girl, currently weighing around 50 lbs.

Sammi is a super sweet gal.  Sammi loves everyone and everything. She previously lived in a home with another dog.  She now lives in a foster home with multiple other dogs and a cat.  She is a little hesitant with the cat, but we think it's becaue she wasn't exposed to them.  Sammi is a bit overweight and could use some continued monitoring of her food and continued exercise.  She doesn't necessarily play with a lot of dogs, but she is very comfortable watching them playing around her.  She goes to doggie daycare at her foster home.

Sammi has EXCELLENT house manners.  She is crate trained and potty trained.  She does wonderful for grooming and she is great at running errands in the car with you too.  Sammi does know a few basic commands, but it never hurts to brush up on those with a training course.  Training is a great way to help bond with your pup.

Sammi is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. We require proof of heartworm prevention for all current and previous pets.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
