My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elton is a young female rabbit, probably about 1-2 years old. She was found as a stray and rescued by McHenry Animal Control. Her rescuers thought she was male at first, hence the fabulous name. She recently finished her vaccines and spay and is looking for a home to call her own! She is a pretty friendly bun and seems to enjoy being petted. She even tolerates being picked up more than your average bun.https://www.lostwoodsas.com/adoption-application

Go meet their pets

We are currently open by appointment only to see all the pets, but we frequently appear at farmer's markets and other local events with adoptable animals.

More about this shelter

We are a specialty rescue for small exotic pets, such as reptiles and small mammals. We were formed by two women who met working at a nature center. In their interactions with the public they noticed a need in the area for a rescue that specialized in exotic pets, as well as a value in public education. Lost Woods Animal Sanctuary was formed with the mission to reduce mistreatment and abandonment of animals through rescue and rehoming, as well as educational outreach.
