WILLIAM — THE LITTLE VELVET SHADOW WITH THE SOFTEST PLAY STYLE
William is a 6-month-old, 9.6-pound sweetheart who just wants to stick by his people and keep life easy. He’s gentle, quiet, and has that soft, thoughtful puppy energy that makes him instantly likable. He’ll explore, check out the room, and then tuck himself right in beside you like that’s where he belongs.
He’s mostly house trained and finishing the last bits with consistency. Crate training wasn’t done consistently in Texas, so his Massachusetts foster home will be helping him build that routine. Inside the home he’s respectful. No destruction, no nonsense, and only alerts when something or someone passes by the window.
His dog skills are excellent. William plays with a soft, bouncy style that never overwhelms the other dog. He reads the room, adjusts well, and genuinely enjoys canine company. Toys are a big win for him, too, and he’ll entertain himself if needed.
He has lived with dogs, cats, and kids, and moves through all of it with an easy, social temperament. He warms up fast, leans into affection, and has that Velcro quality without being needy.
Energy level is moderate. A good walk or some playtime makes him happy, and he’ll settle afterwards without a fuss. He’s still learning leash skills and cues, but he tries and he improves.
He has no guarding, no reactivity, and no sensitivities. Just a well-mannered young dog who needs structure, consistency, and ongoing training as part of his adoption.
Grooming: William will require regular grooming. Anyone interested should be prepared for ongoing coat care and maintenance.
Favorite things: soft toys, being close to his people, gentle play
Three words: sweet, social, easy
Ideal home: almost any. He’ll likely enjoy having another dog in the home.
*Training will be required due to his age of coming into our care*
This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)
To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.
PLEASE READ:
• If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.
• All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.
• Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.
Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.
Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.
