My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED!
Say hello Greta. She is a ~2 year old, German Shepherd who was dumped near a partner rescue in California. She is hoping to find her forever family in the PNW! The kennel environment is very hard for Greta and she struggles to keep weight on. She is currently underweight and will need a family that can help get her to her ideal weight.

Greta will thrive with a family that can bring love and routine into her life. She is very loving and bonds deeply to her people. She is treat motivated and very smart, she is eager to please her person and will do great with proper training. Being a GSD, she would love a family that is active and wants to include her on adventures. After activity, she is happy to lounge with her people.

Greta can be reactive with other dogs at this time and will need a family that can help her decompress from the stress of being in a kennel environment, and work with her on confidence and socialization with other dogs. Like most working breeds, the stress of a kennel environment greatly affects how these dogs act around other dogs. With time, love, and proper training, we believe Greta can feel safer and calmer with other dogs. Due to her reactivity, she would not do well in an apartment or busy city environment, she is best suited for a calmer, more rural neighborhood.

Greta is an extremely loving girl and deserves to be in a home where she can feel safe and supported.

Greta is on the waitlist to be spayed and will be spayed prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $400.

More about this rescue

Forever Home Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We receive dogs from owner surrenders and overcrowded shelters. All of the dogs are housed in private, loving foster homes or a kennel in the greater Seattle area. We assess their behaviors and health and help them relax during their transition to a forever home. The dogs remain in foster care or in our kenneling facility until they are adopted. All of the dogs are/or will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and are current on routine vaccinations.

Forever home dog rescue is not a shelter and thus you cannot see the dogs without an appointment.

We need foster homes! Thinking about adopting a dog, but not sure yet about which breed or if you're ready for the long-term commitment? Consider becoming a foster parent. A foster dog placement can be anywhere from two weeks to several months. We provide any dog supplies you may need and cover all necessary medical costs for your foster dog. You provide the love and attention and bring the dogs to adoption events at least twice per month.

Interested? Send us an email at fhdrwa@gmail.com and we'll send you a foster application. It's lots of fun and you will meet lots of dogs and other people who love dogs.
