My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cam!

Cam’s story is one of survival, strength, and hope for a brighter future. He was rescued by The Sato Project from a horrific hoarding case in Manatí, Puerto Rico, where he lived in a crowded home with over 30 dogs. Despite his difficult beginnings, Cam has shown a gentle heart and a quiet resilience.

Now healthy, safe, and ready for a fresh start, Cam is estimated to be 2–3 years old and weighs 15 lbs. He will be flying to Morristown, NJ on December 28th to meet the family who will give him the love and stability he’s always deserved.

Because of the environment he came from, Cam will thrive in a patient, understanding, and loving home—one that can offer him reassurance, kindness, and the space to learn that the world is finally a safe place for him. With time and compassion, Cam will blossom into a loyal and loving companion.

If you’re looking to open your heart to a brave little dog who’s ready for his second chance, Cam is waiting to start his new life.

About The Sato Project:
The Sato Project has been working hard since 2011 to rescue and rehabilitate the stray dogs of Puerto Rico, known locally as “satos.” To date, we’ve saved over 8,000 dogs and are committed to stopping the overpopulation crisis with spay/neuter and vaccination programs. Your adoption helps us continue this vital work.

More about this rescue

The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs from Puerto Rico. There are currently an estimated 500,000 stray dogs roaming the island’s streets and beaches. With no access to food, fresh water, or veterinary care, many of these dogs are living daily lives of severe suffering. The municipal shelter system is drastically overwhelmed, with only five shelters across all 78 of the island’s municipalities. These shelters have a combined euthanasia rate of over 94%. For thousands of stray and abandoned dogs in the area in which we operate, we are their only hope.
