Gretchen’s journey hasn’t been easy, but she’s come so far. She was rescued by The Sato Project from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in Manatí, Puerto Rico, where over 30 dogs were found living in one home. Despite her rough start, Gretchen has shown a beautiful spirit and a gentle resilience.
Now healthy and safe, Gretchen is ready to find a forever home that will give her the love, patience, and kindness she’s always deserved. She’s friendly, sweet, and outgoing, but may be a bit shy at first — understandable after everything she’s been through. Give her a little time and a few tasty treats (she’s very treat motivated!) and you’ll quickly see her warm, affectionate personality shine through.
She would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can continue to gain confidence and feel secure.

The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs from Puerto Rico. There are currently an estimated 500,000 stray dogs roaming the island’s streets and beaches. With no access to food, fresh water, or veterinary care, many of these dogs are living daily lives of severe suffering. The municipal shelter system is drastically overwhelmed, with only five shelters across all 78 of the island’s municipalities. These shelters have a combined euthanasia rate of over 94%. For thousands of stray and abandoned dogs in the area in which we operate, we are their only hope.

We will then get in touch to process your application and set up a meet and greet at the foster family's home. Our adoption fee is $650. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated and microchipped.
