My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Marcus was brought in by a community member on November 28, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Marcus! Marcus isn't just a dog-he's a walking bundle of charm, wiggles, and "did-he-really-just-do-that?" moments. This handsome fella loves his toys-like, really loves them-and sometimes guards them because they're his special treasures. He'll do best with older, respectful kiddos who understand that when Marcus is enjoying his prized squeaky or chew, it's best to let him have his moment. He's a smart boy who would benefit from a quick refresher on his basic skills-nothing serious, just a little tune-up to help him feel confident and show off all he knows. With consistency, patience, and a pocket full of treats, Marcus is eager to shine. If you're looking for a playful, big-hearted companion with endless potential, Marcus might just be your perfect match. Ready to fall in love? Marcus is already practicing his happy dance for when he meets you!

At SDHS:
Marcus has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
