My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nectarine — a sweet, affectionate, and eager-to-please 4-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix looking for her forever home. She was recently saved from the euthanasia list in Oakland, and she’s proven to be an incredibly loving, loyal, and resilient silly girl. She’s a great walker with zero reactivity to dogs or people. She loves exploring everywhere with us. Nectarine adores people and bonds quickly to hers. She will make us pet and love her when she wakes up every morning. She is very smart and picks up training cues fast. She’s always eager to learn more. When she’s not training, she’ll keep you entertained with her goofy energy and curiosity. Nectarine has lots of energy and would thrive in a home with a yard, a decent amount of space, and/or someone who enjoys an active lifestyle. She’s currently living in an apartment and the noise above us makes her a bit anxious, so a quieter home environment would help her decompress. She is a typical enthusiastic, happy dog, so she may jump or be mouthy when excited, but it’s always playful — and with consistency, she’s already improving.

Nectarine is spayed and up to date with all vaccines. She’s also housebroken, only going during walks.

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs from various Los Angeles shelters the day they are to be euthanized. Our goal is to help provide animals with a second chance to a happy life and to help reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs. Once rescued, we place our dogs into loving foster homes while they await adoption. We do not keep dogs in kennels. Placing the dogs in foster homes is the first step to rehabilitation, as it allows us to thoroughly evaluate a dog's demeanor and needs enabling us to make the perfect match of dog and permanent owner. We attribute our high rate of successful placement to our foster program. At Ace of Hearts, we do not discriminate against any breed, including those in the bully breed family. Additionally, Ace of Hearts is dedicated to educating the public on how to be responsible pet owners and on the importance of spaying and neutering. We believe the real solution to pet overpopulation is through spaying and neutering pets.
