Max

9 years old
22 pounds
Fostered in Holly Springs
Adoption fee is $300
Short list: Loves cats, gets along with small to medium size dogs, housebroken, loves to go for walks, does not like the crate, needs single family home, LOVES his person, very affectionate, Good with kids 8 and over
Max is the definition of a velcro dog! He loves quickly and deeply, wanting to be with his person as much as possible. And he wants to be as physically close to you as he can. You will not be cold or lonely with Max in your life. When you aren’t at home, this dude waits for you on the back of the couch keeping a watch out for your arrival.
He landed in our arms after his elderly owner was unable to keep him due to him getting under her feet and tripping her. Max was loved dearly by his mom and it broke both their hearts, but it was no longer safe for his mom to have a velcro dog. After a few weeks in foster care, Max has adjusted and is ready for his very own forever home for the holidays.
If you are looking for a dog to take on hikes, festivals and breweries, Max would be a perfect fit. He’s friendly with new people and a super happy guy. Max rides well in the car and LOVES going for walks – he’s great on a leash.
Max learned the routines in his foster home very quickly. He’s housetrained and will go sit by the back door when he needs to go out. But if you miss his polite ask, he may have an accident so a good routine is super helpful. Max is not a fan of the crate at all so his new family will need to either use a pen, leave him out or be prepared to work on crate training.
Because Max loves so deeply, he does bark when you leave, so no shared walls for this fellow. He needs a single family home. He would also do best with someone home more than not. He LOVES cats and gets along great. He would be totally fine as an only dog, but also does well with small to medium dogs. He is not a fan of big dogs in his home, but does fine while passing them on the street.
Mix is neutered, UTD on shots, HW negative, had a dental cleaning with extractions, and is microchipped. He can hear, but does have some hearing loss plus a touch of dachshund selective listening thrown in for fun. He has lost weight since coming into rescue and needs to lose a few more pounds so his new family should be committed to helping him find his six pack abs.
If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a loyal, affectionate companion who will adore you with his whole being, Max is waiting. He’s the kind of dog who turns an ordinary day into something special simply by being at your side.
