My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lyra – A Shy Star with a Gentle Heart

Lyra is a beautiful young kitty with a quiet spirit and a love for peaceful moments. She can often be found perched in a sunny window, watching the world go by and daydreaming about her forever home.

Lyra is shy at first and will need a little time and patience to feel comfortable, but once she learns to trust you, her soft and loving nature begins to shine. She’s the kind of companion who will reward your kindness with quiet loyalty and gentle affection.

If you have a calm home and an open heart, Lyra would love to be your sweet little star, brightening your days in her own quiet way.

Her adoption fee is $110 and includes up to date preventatives and vaccinations, her microchip, and spay. You can apply to adopt Lyra at agcshelter.org/adopt-1 or you can meet you Tuesday-Saturday from 1pm-4pm.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

We have a short questionnaire that can be filled out before or during the meet and greet. We do not use the questionnaire to "approve".

2.

Interview

We utilize conversational adoption. This may happen during the meet and greet or via phone before a meet and greet.

3.

Meet the Pet

4.

Pay Fee

Our cat adoption fee is $110, $150 if you adopt a pair, and our dog adoption fee is $150.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

6.

Take the Pet Home

You can bring your own carrier or we can provide a cardboard carrier for an additional $5.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is meant to reduce barriers to adoption. We have a simple questionnaire that does not determine if the adopter is "approved" or "denied" and then we have a conversation about their lifestyle, home environment, and what they are looking for in a pet.

Go meet their pets

Come meet our cats and dogs Tuesday through Friday from 1pm to 4pm in our open-concept adoption space! Here, you can sit and spend time with our kitties in a relaxed environment to get to know each personality. We have a meet and greet room for our doggies, so you can spend time with them in a larger space or walk with them outside!
