My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Helaena is an adorable, sweet, and loving girl. She is sensitive to stress in the home, and would thrive in a
serene and peaceful environment with routine and consistency. Very gentle and easy to live with, she’ll quietly observe you with her curious gaze and happily keep you company throughout the day.

She loves watching birds from the window - often calling to them - and enjoys playing with her mouse toy to keep her reflexes sharp. At night, she turns into a cozy little furball, sleeping peacefully by your side at the edge of your bed.

Helaena prefers to be queen of the household and does best with someone that works from home, is
retired, or a homebody. She’s looking for a home where she can feel secure, cherished, and understood.

Heleana takes medication daily in her food to help her sensitivity to changes in her environment.

Submit Application

Before submitting an application, we ask that you review the information on cat care and our policies here: https://www.vokra.ca/adopt

2.
Interview

Our adoption counsellors focus on educating our adopters on cat care. Once approved, they use a matching process to find your perfect pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

When you find a kitty you like, you will arrange an appointment with the foster home - where the kitty feels most comfortable and confident.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Our adoptions contract process includes reviewing critical cat care information and providing contacts for post-adoption advice.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Woo hoo! You will be expected to take the kitty to a free post-adoption vet check within 2 weeks, and follow up on any required vet care.

Additional adoption info

Each year more than 1,400 cats and kittens are adopted through VOKRA. We're always here after the adoption if you need ongoing advice.

Response times can vary, depending on the time of year and available volunteer resources. Applications and help requests for non-emergency issues will usually receive a response in 1-3 days.
