Adoption steps
- Submit Application
- To begin, you’ll complete our detailed online application so we can match you with a dog suited to your lifestyle and experience.
- Interview
- A phone consultation is conducted to discuss expectations, training needs, decompression, and the dog’s behavior.
- Meet the Pet
- Next, a meet-and-greet is arranged—some dogs may require multiple sessions to build trust and assess compatibility.
- Home Check
- We then complete a home visit, in person or virtual, to ensure the dog’s environment is safe, clean, and secure.
- Sign Adoption Contract
- Once approved, you’ll sign the adoption contract and receive the dog’s medical history, training notes, and care plan.
- Pay Fee
- Your adoption fee includes all veterinary care, a microchip, spay/neuter, and a 6-month Fi GPS collar activation.
- Take the Pet Home
- On take-home day, you’ll receive decompression guidance and support materials to ease the transition.

Meetings typically take place at our shared facility in Poolesville, MD, or at approved partner locations across the DMV region. We also host adoption events and pack walks in collaboration with local businesses and pet supply stores—follow us on social media for upcoming event dates!
