Thanksgiving is a beautiful 1-year-old girl that is still learning that the world does not have to be a scary place. She recently came to APA! with a GI illness that left her dehydrated, nauseous and very frightened. The good news is her medical issues seem to have been resolved.
Thanksgiving is very fearful and tends to shut down or withdraw when she’s overwhelmed, so she’ll need a calm, dog-savvy home that understands how to work with a frightened animal. With patience and predictable routines, she will begin to trust - she just needs someone willing to go at her pace.
Right now, Thanksgiving feels safest when people move slowly, speak softly, and give her space to make the first step. Once she has time to decompress her true personality will start to emerge. Underneath all the fear is a young dog who deserves a loving and stable home. Thanksgiving doesn’t need perfection. She just needs a safe place and someone who believes in her. Could that be you?
