Here's what the humans have to say about me:
🐾 The Tabby Trio: A Sisterhood of Stripes
Meet NIBBLES, MOCHI, and PIP— three inseparable tabby sisters with matching stripes and wildly different personalities.
🐱 NIBBLES The eldest by a whisker, Hazel is the self-appointed queen of the household. She patrols windowsills like they’re castle battlements and believes every sunbeam belongs exclusively to her. She’s elegant, bossy in the cutest way, and the first to demand dinner (hours early, of course).
🐱 MOCHI Marigold is the soft-hearted middle child with a purr that could power a small city. She’s the nurturer of the trio — grooming everyone, comforting humans, and curling up in the most inconvenient spots just to be close. A certified cuddle expert.
🐱 PIP The baby of the bunch and a lovable chaos agent. Juniper zips around like she has her own soundtrack, pounces on anything that moves (and many things that don’t), and believes every cardboard box is a luxury condo. Her zoomies are legendary.
Together, they form a perfectly balanced trio of regal, gentle, and mischievous — a sisterhood of whiskers, cuddles, and coordinated trouble-making. Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
