My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Loki — The Goofy, Sun-Loving Toy Enthusiast!

Loki is a playful, affectionate 5-year-old pittie mix who’s been a beloved indoor family dog his whole life. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and even knows how to ring jingle bells on the door when he needs to go outside—smart boy alert!

Loki LOVES toys, especially tennis balls (which he proudly peels like an orange!). He’ll happily chew on his favorites for ages and enjoys lounging in the sun on warm afternoons. His all-time favorite treat—saved for special occasions—is a pig ear.

Despite his big, impressive bark, Loki is a total softie who melts for belly rubs and scratches. He’s lived peacefully with another male dog for years and does well with friendly dogs after proper introductions. He hasn’t had direct experience living with cats. Loki enjoys trail walks but can get overstimulated in busy dog parks. At the boarding facility, he’s a staff favorite—always generous with his big, wet kisses!

Loki has been a wonderful companion for the past five years. Unfortunately, he’s struggling to adjust to the arrival of a newborn. The baby’s movements and sounds make him anxious, and he’s having difficulty understanding this new, tiny family member. For everyone’s safety and peace of mind, his family is looking for a new home where Loki can feel confident and relaxed again.

Loki would thrive with:
✔ A dog-savvy adopter
✔ A calm home without infants
✔ Another friendly dog (with proper intro) or as a spoiled only pet
✔ Plenty of toys, sunshine, and love

Loki is such a good boy with a huge heart. He just needs the right environment to shine. If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy, toy-loving companion, Loki might be your perfect match.

Loki is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.

Additional adoption info

Adopting from The Love Pit means gaining a family member. It means gaining a network of pit bull advocates, ready to support you and provide you with all of the resources we can. Most importantly, adopting from The Love Pit saves lives. When you adopt, you're saving the life of your own dog, opening space in their foster home for another shelter dog in need, and creating space in the shelter kennel for a dog whose life would have otherwise been on the line. Your thanks for all the good you've done? Lots of love and pit bull kisses to enjoy for years to come.

Go meet their pets

We have monthly adoption events at different locations in Dallas and Fort Worth which are announced on our social media pages and will also be posted on our website.

We will also set up an appointment with you to meet the dog of your choosing.

More about this rescue

We are a foster/volunteer based 501c3 nonprofit dog rescue in Dallas, Texas. Our mission is to reduce the number of homeless pit bull type dogs in shelters and on the streets through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and advocacy.

Our goal is to educate the public about a breed that often falls victim to breed specific legislation, discrimination, and cruelty and promote responsible pet ownership through spay/neuter initiatives, vaccinations, and training resources.
