Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Cherry 🍒🐾
A Puppies for Parole sweetheart with a gentle soul and a love for the quiet side of life.
Cherry is 2 years old and about 55 pounds, with a calm, thoughtful nature. She’s a little shy at first, but once you take the time to earn her trust, she blossoms into an incredibly sweet and loyal companion. Cherry truly shines with people who move at her pace and appreciate a soft, steady bond.
She’d make an excellent buddy for peaceful car rides and relaxed walks, and she’s happy around other dogs as long as they’re calm and not too wild. Cherry is looking for a cozy, low-key lifestyle where she can feel safe, loved, and at home.

Go meet their pets
St. Joseph Animal Services has an adopter’s welcome policy. Our goal is to minimize adoption barriers and make adopting a pet a positive experience. Animal shelter staff and volunteers use conversations and counseling to help match adoptable pets with customers. The adopter’s welcome policy embraces the community, assumes positive intent, and supports people and pets.
Dogs and cats that are the property of the city will be adopted to the public on a first come, first serve process. Potential adopters must physically come to the shelter to meet and adopt a pet. The availability of animals cannot be guaranteed, and animals will not be placed on hold for adopters.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from 1pm-5:30pm. We are located at 701 Lower Lake Road, St. Joseph, MO 64504.
