Meet Bernie, a 12-year-old persian sweetheart. We brought her home about six months ago after falling in love with her “grumpy grandma” charm. We were told she had no medical issues beyond normal breed related sensitivities, and we were excited to give a senior cat a loving home.
Soon after adopting her, we discovered that Bernie actually has chronic skin issues that require ongoing management and a predictable, low-stress environment. We’ve worked with multiple vets and she is currently on treatment, but her condition needs a level of consistency and daily care that we simply cannot provide with our schedules and lifestyle.
We adore her and truly hoped to be her forever home, but the most loving choice is to help her find someone better suited to meet her long-term needs. She would thrive in a calm home with someone who has experience with senior or special-needs cats, or someone who has the time and patience to continue her skin care routine.
