My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on November 28, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Lucky is a calm, sweet dog who has spent most of her life with a loving family. She's now looking for a new home due to housing loss. Lucky is great with children (ages 5+) and enjoys their company, showing a gentle and patient nature.

She is curious and friendly toward dogs, happily greeting them, but she tends to chase cats, so a cat-free home is recommended. Lucky enjoys both indoor and outdoor living and is fully housetrained with no accidents. She may sometimes try to dash out a door to explore, but she always returns safely.

Lucky is gentle with handling and grooming, though she can be a little wary at first. She loves rides in the car, especially window-watching, and is comfortable in a crate or carrier. Loud noises and balloons can startle her, but she recovers quickly with reassurance.

She enjoys her Blue Buffalo kibble and likes chewing on bones. Lucky is on the calmer side but enjoys spending time with her people, sniffing out new friends, and exploring her surroundings.

Lucky would thrive in a patient, loving home where she can enjoy a calm lifestyle, gentle companionship, and safe outdoor access. She's ready to share her heart with the right family!

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
