My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Hi, I’m Rocco!**
I’m a 2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix, about 40 pounds of pure love. I may be young, but I’ve already lived a big life. Before rescue found me, I was a stray doing my best to survive — and I wasn’t alone. I was found taking care of two little puppies who weren’t even mine, but I protected them like they were my own babies. I’ve got a big heart, and I guess I’ve always been a caretaker at heart.

Now I’m safe, neutered, and living with my awesome foster family. I get along great with other dogs and *love* playing with my foster fur brothers. Toys make me so happy, and snuggling is one of my favorite things in the world.

I’m potty trained, and I’m working on learning new things every day. I do well in my crate once I’m inside — sometimes I just need a little encouragement (treats help… a lot).

More than anything, I just want a family to love. I’m ready to be your best friend, your cuddle buddy, and your loyal sidekick. My Christmas wish is to finally get my forever home.

If your application is chosen and approved we will setup a meet and greet with the pet. You will hear back regardless if chosen or not.

We place the dogs in the best home not the first home. Please be patient while we go over all apps and we will be in touch.

We are foster based. You must apply on Crossyourpaws.com first. If your application is chosen as the best fit for the dog we will move forward with the approval process. Once approved you will be setup with a time to meet the dog. Our dogs are all over the greater Pittsburgh area.

Here at Cross Your Paws Rescue, we are driven by a single goal; to save lives. We are doing our part in making the world a better place for all pets. Our decision to start a rescue is not one that we have taken lightly, it has come after years of volunteer work with other groups. Our goal is to make this world a place where starving, abused animals is a thing of the past. That shelters filled with dogs and cats waiting to be euthanized is unheard of. We want euthanasia to be something to help pets on their way to the Rainbow bridge not to end lives because of overpopulation. We vow to save every life that we can.
