My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pookie is fostered in South Bend, IN

This gorgeous girl had a rough start.  The litter had parvo and Pookie was the only survivng pup.  The former owner then surrendered her to our rescue when her own domestic situation became untolerable.  Pookie is a young female red tri Aussie Shepherd and Border Collie mix.  She was born 04/06/2024 and is approximately 40 lbs.

Pookie is adjusting well in her foster home, learning to live harmoniously with other dogs and a cat. She enjoys playing with the young puppy in her foster home.  Pookie can be timid when meeting new dogs and new people but her foster home has continued her socialization and this is improving.  Pookie is learning how to appropriately share toys, and this is a work in progress since she was previously an only dog.

Pookie does not take long to warm up and then her sweet personality comes through. She's quite intelligent, eager to please, easily trainable, likes playing fetch and even knows some basic commands in both English and Spanish.

Pookie is crate trained and house trained, with a consistent schedule. Pookie would benefit from having an active household given she is young, energetic and agile. Pookie was previously around younger children, but has not been around them in her foster home.

Pookie is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. She does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
