YARA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!

Gets Along With: Because of her young age, Yara will likely get along with other cats, dogs and kids with an acclimation period. We’re happy to help with tips and tricks!

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home

I am Looking For: My loving forever family! Hi! I'm Yara, and I am a cute kitty! I won’t ask for much- just some love, cuddles and lots of toys so I can run and play and be myself.

Lives With: Yara, Magician

What the Shelter Says About Me: Yara is a lovely black kitten with a few white hairs. She was found under a car at a local gym. This little kitten had ridden 10 miles beneath a car and survived! Yara is petite, sweet and playful and wants attention.  Yara enjoys chasing and wrestling with her foster siblings.  She also likes snuggling and purring for her foster mom. Yara is precocious, scrambling up and down the cat tree and following her friends out the kitten nursery door at feeding time.  She does not follow them back in, but waits for me to pick her up and put her and her food on the cat tree.  Yara loves cuddles, strokes and scritches, responding with a soft purr.  She started out confident, but cautious but that’s natural considering her scary start and survival. She grew bolder in her foster home.

What my Foster Says About Me: Yara just arrived but is doing really well. She has been spending the day with my daughter in her room away from the other animals for now. Yara was first out of the crate when the door was open and went into army crawl mode and started looking for hiding spots! :) She is slowly warming up :)

Kitten Vetting Requirements: Your kitten may not be fully vaccinated upon adoption.  You will be responsible for providing whatever remaining vaccines are needed to complete the kitten vaccine series.

Due to this kitten's young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than 2/11/26. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low-cost partner vets.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
