Boots is a sweet, soft-natured girl who is happiest snuggled up with Smokey, her bonded partner who must be adopted with her. The two of them nap together in their cat tree most of the day, quietly content until someone comes by with a gentle hand. Boots doesn’t demand attention, but once you start petting her, she blossoms, offering little kisses and even reaching out with a gentle paw if you stop too soon. She also enjoys a cozy lap and plenty of relaxed cuddles.

While she’s a calm kitty, Boots still loves a bit of play, especially with wand toys. She and Smokey make a wonderfully sweet, easygoing pair who will bring lots of warmth to a loving home.

Boots and Smokey are a bonded pair so they have a 2-for-1 adoption fee to help them find a home together!

An adoption application must be completed. Home ownership verification or landlord/condo association approval is required. For dogs, if there are any dogs currently living in the home, a scheduled and supervised interaction with the prospective dog is required. Additional requirements may apply depending upon the individual animal.

Upon adoption, the adopter is required to sign a contract agreeing to provide the animal with the care and medical treatment he or she needs throughout his or her life. They also must agree to provide the animal with an indoor home and if at any point in the animal's life the adopter is unable to keep the animal, the animal must be returned to the shelter.

The main shelter is located at W6127 Kiesling Rd, Jefferson, WI 53549. We are open to the public from 1pm to 6pm Monday through Saturday.

Our satellite cat adoption facility is located inside of PetSmart West at 8210 Plaza Dr, Madison, WI 53719 and is open during the store hours of 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday through Saturday and 9:00am to 7:00pm on Sunday.

The HSJC is located in Jefferson, Wisconsin and is a small, privately run non-profit shelter that has been in operation since 1922. We recently celebrated our 90th year of caring for dogs, cats, birds and other small animals in need. Each year, close to 1,000 pets find sanctuary at our shelter. We put forth great effort to reunite owners with lost pets and to find good new homes for those who need a second chance. We do not impose a time limit on how long a healthy, adoptable animal may stay with us as they wait to be adopted.
