Fett is 7 years old and 45 pounds, while Alby is 9 years old and 49 pounds. They are both Australian Shepherd mixes who were sadly surrendered to the shelter after their owners found they just could not feel comfortable around young toddlers. Their family wanted what was best for them and hoped to find a quieter, adult-oriented home where they could truly thrive.
Because they didn`t quite mix with young children, these two seniors would do best in a home with teenagers or adults who understand their boundaries and don`t move too fast. While they truly love the people they know, they can be wary of strangers for a while before building trust. They previously lived with a cat and would love to have another feline friend in their new home!
Both are potty trained, enjoy being brushed (once they feel comfortable with you), and absolutely love all toys. Alby especially loves stuffed animals, while Fett favors balls. Fett also has a unique quirk: he likes to `growl-purr` when he’s having a lot of fun during playtime!
They both know `sit,` `stay,` and `leave it.` As seniors, they enjoy comfy afternoon nap times where they can lounge on the couch or a cozy dog bed. All these two want are toys, food, and snuggles! They are loyal, good listeners once they know and trust you.

We strive to ensure a safe, healthy, and loving environment that will provide temporary shelter for abandoned, stray, and surrendered animals and to find each animal a new and prosperous home.
The Babinski Foundation is a private 501c3 animal shelter located in Pequot Lakes, MN. We are a safe place to surrender dogs and cats. We also are a stray drop-off facility for stray cats and dogs.
OUR STORY
The Babinski Foundation was established in 2010 by Donald and Elizabeth Babinski owners and founders of Babinski Properties which owns multifamily housing in Minnesota, Florida and South Dakota. He and his wife Elizabeth were working tirelessly to get the animal shelter opened which was their dream, but Donald Babinski passed away August 11th, 2014 before the shelter could open. Elizabeth continued where they left off and the Foundation opened in January 2016 in Pequot Lakes, MN. Elizabeth passed away on November 13th, 2020. Donald and Elizabeth’s dream was finally realized, and Donald and Elizabeth’s surviving family and friends will continue to work hard to fulfill their mission.
