My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chesterman is a 2-year-old cat who has been through a lot and is still learning to trust people. He came from an overpopulated property and will soon be undergoing dental surgery to help him feel his best. After everything he's faced, he's ready for the next chapter: a home where he can feel safe and respected.

Chesterman is an undersocialized cat, which means he needs time, patience, and a calm environment to thrive. He prefers having his space respected and responds best to positive associations, especially with food. While he may never be a full-on snuggle cat, he has shown heartwarming progress with staff and volunteers who've taken the time to earn his trust - leaning into gentle neck scratches when he feels comfortable.

Chesterman also enjoys the company of other cats. Having feline friends helps him feel secure and confident, so a home with another calm, friendly cat would be ideal.

He is looking for an adopter who truly understands that building a bond with him will take commitment and compassion. If you're willing to give him the time he needs, you'll be helping a sweet soul feel safe and loved.

Could you be the one to give Chesterman the understanding home he deserves?

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:
