My story

Canela was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico and is still learning that everything isn’t scary. She jumps at new things and sometimes things she’s seen before.

She takes a little bit to get used to new situations, but is getting better all the time. Once she gets comfortable with someone, she would like to be next to them as much as possible. She cuddles up to women faster than men, but it does happen within a couple of days.

Canela really needs another young and confident dog in her forever home to show her how good life can be. She loves to play and we want to be sure she has a playmate. A backyard would be ideal for her to run and play in.

She needs a family that will give her the time she needs to feel safe and comfortable.

Additional adoption info

We take an application on all potential foster families that includes two non-family references, a vet reference, and a home visit. Our adoption fees help offset our vetting costs and are based on the age of the dog:

0-1 - $300

1-3 - $275

4-7 - $225

8+ - $150
