If you love the idea of having a dog but you prefer cats, then this big, handsome dude is perfect for you! Bubs will be your devoted, loyal companion, providing unconditional love and affection. Wherever you are, Bubs is certain to be right there by your side. This LARGE boy (at 13.5 lbs) has a great affinity for the human lap wherever it might be - whether you are watching a game, reading a book or working from home, Bubs will eagerly warm that lap at no extra charge. Whoever said dogs are “man’s best friend” clearly never met a cat quite like Bubs! He would probably be best in a home with older kids and adults as we have found, during his short time in a foster home, that he will swat you if he thinks you are done petting him and he isn't ready for it to end. This will likely settle down once he has settled in and knows he is in his permanent home and is getting all the care and love he needs but it is something to be aware of. He came from a large apartment community where he wandered around looking for his next pets and his next meal and is happy to give up the life of a wanderer to settle down in a warm, loving home!
NOTE: Bubs is FIV+, meaning he has a weakened immune system. This doesn’t require any special treatment day-to-day, but it’s important he see a vet quickly if he ever gets sick, so it doesn’t escalate. FIV-positive cats can live long, healthy lives, especially when kept indoors in a stable environment. They can live with other cats as long as they are spayed/neutered and do not viciously fight to cause deep bite wounds.
Meet Bubs at our weekly adoption event at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, from 12-4pm on Saturday or apply to adopt to schedule another time. All cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative.
All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.
Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
