Meet Chiquito!
Chiquito is a 5-year-old, 22-pound male dachshund terrier mix from Alabama! Chiquito is a cuddly, cozy, loving pup looking for a place to nap and someone willing to throw a toy for him to chase.
Chiquito has adjusted beautifully to life in Brooklyn, and is eager to go on walks in the neighborhood and meet as many neighborhood pups as possible. Chiquito lives to fetch and then curl up in a lap for a long nap.
Chiquito is doing well understanding “sit” “wait” “shake” and working on other obedience training. During his time with his foster family, he seems to be house trained, and does a great job letting them know when it’s time to go outside by politely walking in circles by the door.
He is good on a leash and still working on ignoring other dogs while out and about (he really reeeeally wants to make friends.)
Chiquito's forever family will need to continue working with him to reinforce and advance the progress he’s been making with learning to commands and staying focused on leash.
Chiquito has done well in his crate during the day - he may whimper a bit, but does a good job of self soothing and going to sleep after a few minutes.
He loves to be cozy with his foster family and can often be found with his favorite meercat plushie.
Chiquito is looking for a lowkey family that will take him out for walks and snuggle up with him nearby. He appreciates downtime and active moments, with a solid mix of cuddles and playtime during the day. He can keep himself occupied with a chew toy for hours, and loves to search for treats.
He would do well as a solo dog or with other dogs in the house. We would recommend Chiquito go to a home with older children.
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, neutered and microchipped. Negative for heartworm disease, and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
To apply for Chiquito, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.
Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
