My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🌟 Meet Me — I’m Star! 🌟

Hi there! My name is Star — like a shooting star! That’s because the night I crawled up a kind family’s driveway in rural Missouri looking for help, they looked up and saw one streak across the sky. They said it was fate — and that’s how I got my name. ✨

I’m a 4–5-year-old, 43-pound bundle of sweetness, fun, and snuggles. I live with my foster family right now, along with some other dogs who have become my best friends. I love to play, share toys (okay, I really love whatever toy another dog has), lounge on my favorite spot — the sofa, and explore the yard. If you have another playful pup, that’s perfect! I’d thrive with a buddy who enjoys having fun as much as I do.

I’m a very good girl! I don’t shed, I am crate trained, and learning my leash manners. I get super excited for walks — they’re my favorite part of the day! Once I settle in, I walk pretty nicely and love exploring the world with you. A fenced yard and daily walks would help me stay happy and balanced. I am also very chatty! I’ve got lots to say, being a beagle mix, so an apartment might not be the best place for me.

I know how to sit (especially for treats!) and come when you call “Star, come on!” I’m smart, curious, and sometimes a bit stubborn — I like to think for myself. 😉 But I catch on quickly and really want to please.

I’m great with other dogs and older kids, though I might accidentally bump into smaller ones because I don’t always realize how big I am. I’m never mean or aggressive — I just really like snacks, and sometimes I think your food should be our food.

At night, I sleep in my cozy bed near my foster mom and foster sisters, and I feel safe knowing they are close by. I’ve been through some tough times before, but I’m learning every day that people can be kind and that I can trust them. My foster family says I have the biggest heart — that I’m affectionate, goofy, and loving despite everything I’ve been through.

Star's adoption fee is $175. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and current on preventatives for heartworm/flea/tick.

Go meet their pets

Where are you located?
Pawsitive Tails does not have a physical location. All of our dogs live in loving foster homes throughout the Kansas City and Topeka area. This allows fosters to get to know each dog personally, so we can find the very best home for them.

What are your hours?
As a foster based rescue, every person with Pawsitive Tails is a volunteer. Because we do not have a facility, we do not have “open” hours but can be contacted between 8am and 9pm.

Can I stop in to visit dogs and play with puppies?
No. We require an approved application to be on file before meeting our dogs/puppies. In addition, our dogs live in foster homes, so we must work around the foster parents’ schedule.

More about this rescue

Pawsitive Tails strives to be something different in the animal adoption community. We simply want to help dogs and puppies find new homes by matching the right dog to the right family.

Pawsitive Tails is a not for profit organization focused on finding forever homes for dog and puppies. We are not a shelter and we do not have a facility - all the dogs in our program live in foster homes.
