One of the best things about being a senior is increased wisdom and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. And nobody knows this better than Smokey, a 13-year-old Chihuahua who weighs 8 pounds.
Smokey is house and kennel trained. He likes to take a short walk, but walks slowly on a leash. There is nothing like a leisurely walk.
Smokey is a sweet, mellow senior dog who appreciates the good things in life like a soft bed to lie in, a few head scratches, and perhaps a belly rub. Is that too much to ask? This little man gets along with other dogs and cats. He also gets along with children, but because of his small size, young children should be closely supervised. Smokey would love to have a fenced backyard where he can take his time finding the perfect spot to do his business. When it snows, if you could scoop a little path in the yard for him, he would appreciate your thoughtfulness. His legs are short and Kansas snow can pile up!❄️❄️
Smokey’s adoption fee is $100 and includes his microchip and neuter. He is up to date on vaccinations and heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. To meet him, go to PawsitiveTailsKC.org and complete an adoption application. Meet-and-greets will be scheduled with approved adopters.
In the meantime, Smokey can be found at his foster home, napping in a super-soft bed in front of the fireplace.

Where are you located?
Pawsitive Tails does not have a physical location. All of our dogs live in loving foster homes throughout the Kansas City and Topeka area. This allows fosters to get to know each dog personally, so we can find the very best home for them.
What are your hours?
As a foster based rescue, every person with Pawsitive Tails is a volunteer. Because we do not have a facility, we do not have “open” hours but can be contacted between 8am and 9pm.
Can I stop in to visit dogs and play with puppies?
No. We require an approved application to be on file before meeting our dogs/puppies. In addition, our dogs live in foster homes, so we must work around the foster parents’ schedule.
